WE ARE A PART OF NOT APART FROM NATURE

Dark Ocean

Our Environmental Promise

Climate Change is one of the most talked about topics with the main emphasis being what can 'we' all do to help.  As a provider of bath and body products that are used daily in our lives, our promise is to create products using as many natural plant-based ingredients that will not cause any harm to our oceans.  We also promote sustainability by ensuring our packaging is easily recycled, or re-usable.  We continue to strive to use reduced plastics in our finished packaging and offer reusable, refillable containers where we can.  We promise to offer our customers a great shopping experience that also helps 'you' contribute towards a healthy planet.

In 2014 our founder came across the art of soap-making purely by accident. After being diagnosed with cancer whilst recovering, soap-making became a well needed distraction, which then turned into a new interest with months of researching ingredients, methods and enlisting in sessions to learn from other professionals.

From research, it became increasingly obvious how many bath and body products use harsh chemicals and what damage this is doing to our planet.  We knew from the skills and knowledge gained, The Coastal Soap Company could proactively help by creating products to our customers while promoting sustainability.

We are so fortunate to live near one of Wales' beautiful coastlines, which gives inspiration to envisage how to evolve our soap-making business and continue to develop new concepts and gain never-ending knowledge of safe, plant-based ingredients which makes up the majority of our products in a sustainable manner, so as not to deplete or disrupt our local biodiversities. By contributing to cleaner and safer oceans we can help towards climate change.

Our Packaging Standards

120 billion units of packaging are produced every year by the global cosmetics industry, bulked out by the use of complex lids, multi-layered boxes and cellophane, much of which is superfluous, non-recyclable and ends up in our landfills and oceans.

The packaging across our range is 90% plastic-free (the little we use is biodegradable) . E
nsuring our packaging is easily recycled, or re-usable, we continue to strive to use reduced plastics in our finished packaging and offer reusable, refillable containers where we can.

HOW OUR PACKAGING SHOULD BE RECYCLED

  • Aluminum Lids - All UpCircle aluminum lids can go straight into your normal recycling!

  • Pipette / Dropper - Check local municipality or use Terracycle. We also offer aluminium cap refill options – use dropdown menu on product page.

  • Cardboard Outers - All UpCircle outer cardboard boxes can go straight into your normal recycling!

  • Glass - All glass bottles and jars can go straight into your normal recycling. Give them a quick rinse if possible.
